OVERVIEW

Educational game for kids to teach them maths and English skills.

AUDIENCE

Kids aged 6 – 13.

ROLE

I was the UI and graphic designer for this project in a team that was made up of 1 other UI designer, 1 Lead Artist, 6 developers, 2 3D Artists, 4 Animators and 1 project manager.

OBJECTIVE

Studying mathematics and languages tend to be a boring, dry chore for kids. This game was created with the objective of immersing kids in a fantasy-world with fictional characters, who take them on adventures and missions, while teaching them mathematical and language literacy along the way.

I created parts of the UI for their core game, as well as various graphical assets for their educational platform. The game is now mainly being used in schools across the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand. The following 2 screens shows the parents’ side of the app.

In the design consideration, we have tried to make the flow as simple as possible.

CONSTRAINTS

Because the audience are kids, the data flow had to be greatly simplified and presented in a very simplistic manner. Occasionally, we would run focus groups consisting of kids to test and observe which type of graphics and art style appeals to them more.
