OVERVIEW

Mobile game for Unilever’s internal training platform

AUDIENCE

Unilever’s employees.

ROLE

I was the UI designer for this project in a team that was made up of 4 developers and 1 project manager. I also helped to create some of the 3D characters for pitching and presentation purposes.

OBJECTIVE

In an attempt to encourage their employees to participate more in their company’s internal employee training / learning platform, Unilever came to us with the idea of creating a mobile game that connects to their learning software, in order to gamify the system, to make it more fun and enticing.

INTRODUCTION

Below video was done by me for the client, so that they can present to their upper management.

Onboarding screens.

Users can customize and buy items for their 3D avatar.

To increase users’ engagement on the app, we have built in features such as Mystery Item of the Month and surprises in the Shop.

To earn coins to purchase items for their avatar, players must answer quizzes and watch videos.

These quizzes and videos are based on Unilever’s internal training programme for their employees.

Below screens show the backend admin panel for staff to manage the content of the mobile game.

CONSTRAINTS

The client has very clear and specific ideas in mind, but some of it were too complex and user-unfriendly, and would turn off the target audience instead of increasing their engagement rate. In order to convince the client, there was a need to create additional alternate concepts to show them without extending the already-tight delivery date.
